Puppy socialization is a critical part of canine development. Puppies who are 6-16 weeks of age need to be exposed to novel sounds, flooring types, people, other animals, and objects to help advance their development and prepare them for life with their family. But how do you do this when everyone needs to be 6 feet apart and there is a stay at home order? Now your puppy can be as cool as the school kids and take an online class or come in for one of our Puppy Social Breaks!
The online course is a live, 1 hour session with one of our behavior technicians who will be reviewing the process of socialization, what to do when your puppy is worried about something, body language and how to socialize in our current environment safely. There are a lot things that we can actually do at home or in our local neighborhoods to enhance learning and set puppies up for success. You can also call and schedule your puppy for a drop off play and socialization session with other puppies at The Behavior Clinic! On Tuesday's and Thursday's from 3-3:30pm we do a 30 minute Puppy Social Break for puppies 6-16 weeks of age. You'll call ahead, book your puppy for the session, we'll meet you in our gated vestibule and bring puppy in for 30 minutes of activity with other puppies and novel items. We provide a video link for you to watch from your car so you know how your puppy did that day.
Ultimately, we would love for people to use both of these socialization options, but we know not all our clients are local. No matter where you are, you can socialize your puppy during the pandemic and we are here to help you do it safely. Have an older dog or a cat? Check out our other events on Facebook (The Behavior Clinic; Animal Behavior of Northeast Ohio) or our events section with the calendar on the website. We have a lot of virtual options for various species! To register call: 440-334-8534
